About Her

I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I’m a common [girl] with common thoughts, and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I’ve loved [you] with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough.

She was not born with 11 fingers or toes. She was not born with a hole in her heart. In fact, she was born on a hot stinky June afternoon in a crowded maternity ward in Shanghai, not much different at all from the hundreds of infants creating a cacophony around her.

Many years on and she is now a Chinese-Australian, proud of her humble oriental roots and the way her upbringing has helped shape her outlook in life. True to form, she is a Gemini of numerous incongruities; outwardly diffident and inwardly aspirational, outwardly stoic and yet inwardly fragile. She is a banker by trade, a writer at heart, and this, is her love affair with words.

  2. This is a great bio. You’ve nailed it. I always go to a bio first; if someone can draw me in on describing themselves, then chances are that they will write well about all of the other things.

Also nice to meet a fellow Australian.

  3. Jolene, I’m so glad you found my blog or I’d never have come across yours and I LOVE IT! Everything reads so well, you’ve hit the nail on the head, you are very clearly a writer at heart. And your use of this theme is so clean, I think you’ve inspired a couple of changes to my layout. Thanks again! *Follow*
